Start your exploration at Karanis, one of the largest Greco-Roman settlements established during the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus in the 3rd century BC. Continue to the impressive Hawara Pyramid, built by Amenemhat III, whose rule marked the golden age of Egypt’s Middle Kingdom.
Next, visit the famous Fayoum water wheels, once vital for irrigation and now a proud symbol of the region.
